How I keep a clean house with two toddlers.

10/24/2016

I have two messy toddlers and a husband deployed but that doesn't mean my house has to sacrifice. Honestly I wish I could care a little bit less but a clean house is my priority. I can't relax at the end of the day if it is not. While I do work hard I have found ways to make my job as a housewife easier. Here are some of my best tips and tricks to keeping my house clean.

-have a schedule-
I divide the big chores like bathrooms, bedrooms, laundry, dusting... etc among different days of the week. This gives you some organization so that every day you know exactly what to do. You will only have a few tasks and at the end of the day all you need to do is pick up the daily messes.

-work smarter not harder-

This right here guys. I fought it for years and for the life of me I don't know why. We recently added a Bobi robot vacuum to our family and it is a game changer. Austin and I have done a few deployments and this is the first time I felt like I had a second pair of hands while he was away. Today while I did the dishes good ol' Bobi did the vacuuming for me and it felt so good. She also comes with a mop attachment and can mop my kitchen floor for me. Remington doesn't shed like a normal dog, but when his hair is long it comes out in chunks, but Bobi hasn't had any trouble with them. There are cool little brushes on the bottom of the Bobi that brush dirt from corners or out from little spaces under the vacuum to suck up. You can even set her up on a timer so that you don't even have to think about running her. I like to run mine upstairs after we get up in the morning then bring her downstairs to run while the girls are napping and I clean the house. Really y'all, I can't say enough good things about adding a Bobi to our home. It cleans so much better than I thought it would and it has taken a serious load off of me.

-contain the mess-
My children are not a fan of this one but I put two gates up downstairs that separate the playroom from the formal living room and kitchen. This is so so so helpful. At the end of the day all their toys and mess are contained to one area and my end of the day cleanup isn't to hard.
What are your tricks to keeping your house clean? Do you keep a schedule, or wing it? I can say one thing for certain, it was a heck of a lot easier to keep the house clean before I had kids. But, I wouldn't trade those messy little monsters for the cleanest house in the world.
